It’s about to get hot in here, because we’ve created our list of the best country songs about fire. In country music fire is almost always used as a metaphor for burning love, as artists like Brooks and Dunn demonstrate on this countdown. Other songs, like “Sippin’ on Fire” by Florida Georgia Line, use fire to describe alcohol and having a good time.

1. Garth Brooks- Standing Outside the Fire

“Standing Outside the Fire” was written by Garth Brooks for his album In Pieces. Co-Written by his good friend Jenny Yates in 1992, Garth stated that the duo wrote the song together while he was visiting Los Angeles. In a conversation with Yates, Garth mentioned something stood outside the fire, and less than two hours after the inspiration struck them the lyrics were fully written.

2. George Strait- The Fireman

“The Fireman” is on George Strait’s’ album Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind. Released in 1984, “The Fireman” was written for Strait by Mack Vickery and Wayne Kemp. The song tells the tale of a man who has the ability to calm women down, especially after a breakup. It’s essentially about swooping in on girls who have just gone through a breakup, and Strait is in on the joke the entire time.

3. Brooks and Dunn- I Can’t Put Out This Fire

The country duo Brooks and Dunn put their flammable song “I Can’t Put Out This Fire” on their 1993 album Hard Working Man. This sad song describes a man who is still in love with his ex, who just can’t seem to “put out the fire”, or stop loving her.

4. Dierks Bentley- Feel That Fire
